How To Replace Laptop

** This article (how to do a laptop backlight repair) is intended for a Sony laptop, no specific laptop model, but there is no guaranteed that it will work on yours*.

WARNING: TURN OFF YOUR NOTEBOOK AND UNPLUG POWER CORD AND MODEM CABLE BEFORE OPENING CASE

CAUTION: Prevent ESD damage by following ESD guidelines every time you open the notebook case.

1. IMPORTANT: UNPLUG POWER CORD, MODEL CABLE, AND TAKE OUT BATTERIES! You will need: a screwdriver, extra backlight inverters, good tweezers, and a tube to do a laptop backlight repair (inverter).

2. Remove the screws on the Sony screen. There are usually four around the corners. Remove the plastic on the outside. Be careful; it can crack.

3. Remove the plastic case around the screen.

4. The inverter is usually below the screen. There are two connectors. The first one is for 19 volts of power. There is a transformer on the inverter that converts the power up to 630 volts.

5. Remove the tube connector in the internal screen, and connect the tube that you had from the beginning. (NOT the one you have removed from THIS screen.) You can get a tube from a cracked screen.

6. Connect the tube to the inverter. IMPORTANT: YOU WILL NEED TO CHOOSE THE SAME INVERTER AS THE ONE YOU REMOVED OR THE MOTHERBOARD CAN GET DAMAGED!

7. Now replace the plastic case on top of the screen.

8. Replace the four screws that you have removed from the beginning when starting to do a laptop backlight repair.

9. Replace your batteries that you have removed from the beginning when you were starting to do a laptop backlight repair.

10. Now, re-plug the power cord and the modem cord.

11. Turn your laptop on. Is it nice and bright?
